Speaking from the experience point of view, the ideal time to go on Kudremukh Trek is from October to February when there is appealing weather and the landscape is dense and green after the monsoon season. It’s better to avoid hiking this place in the monsoon season (June to September) because there is going to be huge rainfall in this region and the trekking trails might also be very slippery.
Kudremukh is named so because the peak of the mountain resembles the face of a horse (“Kudre” means horse and “Mukh” means face in the local language).
You don’t have to carry all your extra belongings along the Trek. Instead, you can leave them at the campsite or homestay and only take the essential items for the Trek, such as raincoats, a flashlight, a water bottle, a lunchbox, and any valuables.
