This trail starts from the Maha Vishnu Temple near the Kopatty bus stop and features an arched entryway. Trekkers begin on a tarred road surrounded by scenic paddy fields before forking off at its first Y-intersection and eventually arriving in Charambane – your last chance for essential purchases before entering the forest. From there, the trail begins with a short stream crossing and a steep ascent through Coorg’s dense forests. Within short order, you’ll reach your first clearing on the path, offering panoramic views of mountains and valleys that lie ahead, making this meadow an ideal place to stop for lunch while taking in its breathtaking surroundings. Additionally, this breathtaking trail is an opportunity for wildlife spotting as it hosts Malabar giant squirrels as well as other forms of deer found grazing nearby forests. Kopatty Hill Top offers stunning panoramic views that you won’t soon forget, from which you can witness everything from Western Ghat peaks to the forests you traversed along your trek.

Itinerary

Day 0 - Departure From Bangalore

Depart from Bangalore by a non-AC pushback seater on Friday night. Choose from any of the following pickup points according to your convenience:

📍Rajajinagara  : Navrang theatre- opp to Sagar hotel bus stand 07:30 PM

📍Yeshwanthpur : Metro station towards Tumkur 08:00 PM

Day 1 - Towards Exploring the Kopatty Trek

  • You will be arriving at the homestay early in the morning.
  • Freshen yourself up, have breakfast and prepare yourself for ascending the Kopatty.
  • Your trail surrounded by the Coffee Plantations provide an excellent backdrop for your journey.
  • As you ascend, you’ll be witnessing the magnificent views around you and will constantly feel motivated with a sense of accomplishment.
  • Once the climb culminates at the Kopatty Peak, it’s time for a packed lunch. You will be enjoying your meals relishing the breathtaking panoramic views that surround you.
  • After your meal and absorbing the beauty of nature around you from the peak, you’ll begin your descent towards the base camp.
  • Return to the homestay, freshen up, and indulge in a session of tea and snacks.
  • At the end of the day you’ll get to relax and enjoy around a campfire if the weather permits it. You can also enjoy your dinner here and wind yourself up for the day.

Day 2 -A Day Set Aside for Sightseeing

  • Wake up, get yourself freshened up and get your breakfast done.
  • After that, you’ll travel to the Dubare elephant camp and then see the magnificent Golden Temple in the Tibetan community of Coorg.
  • Along the way, stop for a self-sponsored lunch.
  • Post lunch you’ll be returning to Bangalore around 10.00 PM carrying with you, a lot of splendid memories of Kopatty.
