About Vellagavi Trek, Tamil Nadu.
The Vellagavi Trek at Kodaikanal is one of Tamil Naduβs most enchanting and lesser-known hiking experiences. Tucked away in the Western Ghats, this trail leads adventurers through dense shola forests, misty mountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Starting from Dolphinβs Nose or Vattakanal, the trek to the remote village of Vellagavi is around 8 to 10 km long and takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on your pace. What makes this trek truly unique is that the village is completely vehicle-free and can only be reached on foot, preserving its untouched charm and serenity. Ideal for both novice and experienced trekkers, theΒ Vellagavi TrekΒ at Kodaikanal offers a chance to disconnect from urban chaos and immerse oneself in pure nature. The trail is dotted with native flora and fauna, and if youβre lucky, you might even spot bison or rare birds along the way. Once you reach Vellagavi, youβll be greeted by traditional Tamil homes, warm locals, and an old-world atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. The trek not only offers breathtaking views of the Palani Hills but also a spiritual experience, as the village is home to ancient temples and has a deep cultural significance.
