Major Mysore Dasara Events 2026

Mysuru Dasara includes cultural, religious, traditional, food, sports and entertainment events.

Some of the major attractions include:

Jamboo Savari

Jamboo Savari is the grand Vijayadashami procession and the most famous event associated with Mysore Dasara.

The procession leaves Mysore Palace on 21 October 2026 and travels approximately 5 km towards Bannimantap.

Because route, viewing, tickets and crowd planning are substantial topics on their own, keep the detailed information on your dedicated Jamboo Savari page rather than duplicating it here.

Mysore Palace Illumination

Mysore Palace is illuminated with approximately one lakh bulbs during the festival.

The official schedule lists Palace illumination from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM every evening during Dasara, with extended illumination until midnight on Sundays and Vijayadashami.

Torchlight Parade

The Torchlight Parade, or Panjina Kavayathu, takes place at Bannimantap Grounds.

The main Vijayadashami Torchlight Parade is scheduled for 21 October from around 7:00 PM.

A full-dress rehearsal is also scheduled for 20 October.

Drone Show

Official Drone Shows are scheduled at Bannimantap on:

  • 17 October – 8:00 PM
  • 18 October – 8:00 PM
  • 20 October – 8:00 PM
  • 21 October – 8:00 PM

Ticketing arrangements differ between the scheduled shows, so visitors should check the official Dasara ticket portal before planning their visit.

Flower Show

The Dasara Fruit and Flower Show is scheduled at Kuppanna Park from 11 to 21 October, generally between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Aahara Mela

The popular Dasara food festival is scheduled at Maharaja’s College Ground from 11 to 25 October 2026, generally from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Kambala

Traditional Kambala events are scheduled for 18 and 19 October 2026 near VTU College.

Mysore Dasara Tickets 2026

Not every Mysore Dasara event requires a ticket.

Large parts of the festival—including public sections of the Jamboo Savari route, Palace illumination, cultural stages, Flower Show, Aahara Mela and certain public enclosures—can be experienced without purchasing a premium Dasara ticket.

Tickets are primarily required for selected reserved or controlled viewing experiences.

The official Mysuru Dasara website currently lists ticket products for:

  • Mysuru Dasara Gold Card
  • Jamboo Savari reserved seating
  • Torchlight Parade
  • Torchlight Parade rehearsal
  • selected Drone Shows

Mysore Dasara Ticket Prices 2026

Where to Buy Mysore Dasara Tickets Online

Important

Do not confuse:

Official Mysore Dasara event tickets

with:

private transport or tour packages to Mysuru.

A Bangalore-to-Mysuru travel package does not automatically include Jamboo Savari reserved seating, a Gold Card or Torchlight Parade admission unless the package explicitly says so.

Mysore Dasara Gold Card 2026

The official Mysuru Dasara Gold Card starts from ₹6,500 per person.

It includes specified benefits such as one-time entry to selected attractions and reserved festival experiences, including numbered seating for Jamboo Savari and access to the Torchlight Parade according to the official ticket terms.

Because availability is limited, visitors specifically wanting reserved seating should check the authorised ticketing platform rather than assuming tickets will be available on arrival.

Mysore Palace Illumination Timings 2026

Mysore Palace illumination is one of the most popular evening experiences during Dasara.

Palace Illumination Timing

Daily during Dasara: 7:00 PM–10:00 PM

The official illumination programme says the Palace is lit with approximately one lakh bulbs.

On Sundays and Vijayadashami, illumination is scheduled to continue until midnight.

Best Time to Reach Mysore Palace for Illumination

Do not arrive exactly at 7:00 PM if you want to explore the surrounding area comfortably.

The Palace area becomes busy during Dasara evenings, particularly on weekends and Vijayadashami.

Arriving earlier gives you additional time for:

  • parking
  • walking
  • security checks
  • finding a viewing location
  • dealing with traffic restrictions

Jamboo Savari 2026

The Mysore Dasara Jamboo Savari will take place on 21 October 2026.

The Pushparchane ceremony is scheduled from 4:10 PM to 4:35 PM, after which the procession leaves Mysore Palace and proceeds towards Bannimantap.

How Many Days Should You Spend in Mysuru During Dasara?

It depends on what you want to experience.

One Day

A one-day visit can work if your main goal is:

  • Jamboo Savari
  • Palace illumination
  • Dasara atmosphere
  • selected city attractions

However, Vijayadashami is extremely crowded.

Two Days

Two days gives you more time for:

  • Mysore Palace
  • illumination
  • markets
  • cultural events
  • Flower Show
  • food festival
  • Jamboo Savari or Torchlight Parade

Three or More Days

A longer stay is better for travellers who want to explore multiple official Dasara programmes without rushing between venues.

How to Reach Mysuru During Dasara

Mysuru is accessible from Bangalore by road and rail.

During Dasara, demand increases considerably, particularly around weekends and Vijayadashami.

From Bangalore by Road

The Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway makes Mysuru relatively easy to reach by road under normal conditions.

However, visitors travelling on Vijayadashami should not calculate their journey using only normal driving times.

Traffic controls and congestion within Mysuru can significantly affect the final part of the journey.

By Train

Train travel can help visitors avoid road congestion, but popular services may sell out during the festival period.

Book early if travelling during the busiest Dasara dates.

By Organised Transport

Travellers who prefer not to drive, search for parking or manage a late-night return can use organised transportation from Bangalore.

Travelling from Bangalore?

View our Mysore Dasara Package From Bangalore 2026 for transport, pickup points, itinerary and booking details.

Parking During Mysore Dasara

Parking and road access change significantly during the busiest festival days.

Visitors should expect restrictions around:

  • Mysore Palace
  • Sayyaji Rao Road
  • Jamboo Savari route
  • K.R. Circle
  • Bannimantap
  • major event venues

The official venue information states that festival shuttles operate from designated parking hubs during major events.

Parking Tips

  • arrive early
  • use authorised parking locations
  • expect to walk
  • save your parking location on your phone
  • take a screenshot for offline reference
  • avoid depending on roadside parking
  • follow police instructions
  • allow extra time when leaving after major events

On Vijayadashami, do not assume you can drive directly to Mysore Palace.

What First-Time Visitors Should Know

Expect Crowds

Dasara attracts extremely large crowds, especially during Vijayadashami and major evening events.

Expect Walking

Vehicle access near major venues may be restricted.

Wear comfortable shoes.

Keep Your Phone Charged

A power bank is useful if you plan to spend the entire day exploring events.

Save Important Locations

Save:

  • hotel
  • parking
  • railway station
  • pickup point
  • family meeting point

before entering heavily crowded areas.

Carry Water

Long periods outdoors, walking and waiting can become tiring.

Plan Fewer Activities

Trying to cover every attraction in Mysuru during Vijayadashami is unrealistic.

Choose your priorities.

Best Time to Visit Mysore Dasara 2026

There is no single best date for every visitor.

For the Grand Finale

Visit on 21 October for Jamboo Savari and the final Torchlight Parade.

For Palace Illumination

Any festival evening from 11 to 21 October can work.

For Weekend Atmosphere

17–18 October includes Drone Shows and several festival programmes, but crowds will also be heavier.

For Fewer Vijayadashami Crowds

Visit during an earlier festival day rather than waiting until 21 October.

Plan Your Mysore Dasara 2026 Visit
